M.P. Pillai Charitable Trust Awards presented

Principal M.P. Pillai Charitable Trust has organized the 10th Memorial Day of late M.P. Pillai, Principal of Powai English High School at a special function on February 23, 2019. To perpetuate his memory, Principal M.P. Pillai Awards for the Best Teacher are being given every year. The Award comprises of a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, certificate and a shawl. The winners of 2009 Best Teacher Awards were Shri. Mahadev Patil, Nutan Vidyamandir, Oni, Ratnagiri district; Shri. Ravindra Vasurkar, New English School, Lanja and Smt. Annamma Paul, Chembur English High School. Shri. V.N. Gopalakrishnan, Freelance Journalist and Social Activist was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Sunil Nair, Secretary, Nair Welfare Society, Shri. Venugopal Pillai, President, Powai Kerala Samajam, Smt. Anagha Ashok Satavase, Police Inspector, Powai and other dignitaries graced the function.  The function was organized under the supervision of Shri. Gopalakrishna Pillai, President and Shri. Subhash Lad, Secretary of the Trust was attended by students and parents.
Late Shri. M.P. Pillai was the Founder Principal and Secretary of Powai English High School run by Manav Dharma Mission Trust. The School has been scoring consistently 100% results in SSC examinations during the past two decades and has received accolades from BMC authorities for inter-school competitions.

Shri Pillai. also established Mahatma Education Trust that runs English High School in Chembur and Panvel. Under the auspices of this School, he established Rashtrabhasha Vidyamandir to propagate Hindi among students. He also started Powai Marathi Madhyamik Shala for those who cannot afford quality education in Marathi. Besides, Marol Education Academy and Vidyadhiraja Education and Charitable Trust, Mulund also received his direction and guidance.
