A loud and profound shout under Sanjay Rohida led Nirvana’s Grain Collection Drive, “Tum Mujhe Anaaj Do, Main Unntak Pahuncha Doonga” yielded fantastic response as 1000s of people across the city contributed in one way or the other. The lowest collection of Rs.10/- donated by a 17 year old ‘Challenged Student’ to Rs.50,000/- cash donated by Thane based philanthropist helped raise grain collection to whopping 27,000+Kgs this year! This is more than double from the last year.

Mettler Toledo, the partners in this drive, contributed 9000+Kgs in this edition with stupendous efforts from CEO Mr. Sanjeev Dhar and their entire staff. And Accenture employees collected over 4000Kgs of grain under the leadership of Mr. Shekhar Tiwari (MD Supply Chain & Network) and have promised bigger involvement in the coming years.
This is the third year in a row, wherein Powai based Nirvana Group has collected grains to support malnourished Advasi families in Jawhar Taluka (Dist Palghar). The 5 hamlets are now practically under the wings of Nirvana as this year apart from grain distribution the group distributed shoes, 3 pair socks, 6 notebooks and 5 pens to 161 children studying in 2 dilapidated Zilla Parishad Schools. The happiness on the faces of kids knew no boundaries as they clapped endlessly for the donors. All of them have promised to wear shoes, as school Principal Mr. Shashikant Mangnale and Mr. Choudhary declared it as a part of the school uniform.

Almost 500 families residing in DabheriPada, HoliPada, PhanasPada, KausambhiPada and ChowkisanwarPada were overwhelmed to receive the grain donation and showed utmost discipline while receiving the same. For the villagers, it was ‘Diwali before Diwali.’ Sarpanch Ramesh Dhondga said, “On one hand we are thankful to you however it’s difficult for us to receive these free gifts. As we are jobless & helpless, we don’t have any survival means. If job opportunities are created, the villagers are capable of working in any field.”

Understanding their plight, Sanjay Rohida has initiated discussions with local Tehsildar who has applauded the efforts and assured his active participation in creating some jobs for these villagers.

In his brief interaction with the villagers, Sanjay stressed upon cleanliness drive and education for children. He also requested all the villagers to dissuade from child marriages which will help in arresting malnourishment to some extent. He has declared that he will construct a permanent toilet for the well maintained clean hamlet. Immediately after the grain distribution, villagers formed teams and cleaned all 5 hamlets and have vowed to maintain cleanliness forever.

The entire Grain Collection and distribution drive was well supported by members of Nivara Hakk Samiti those who helped in tedious task of grain segregation. This apart Team Nirvana, Team Mettler Toledo, Team Daan Utsav, Team Accenture contributed handsomely.

Nirvana Group is taking up school repair work on a priority basis and hereby appeals the My Powai readers to contribute for the same. The company’s those who want to extend their support under CSR activity are welcome to join this movement. Pls contact Sanjay Rohida on +9198201 26044 for further info.
