Grand celebration of Ganpati festival at Chandivali Mhada ground

During the Ganesh festival, all roads of Chandivali and Powai led to the Mhada ground at Chandivali.  The Chandivali Mhada Sarvajanik Ganeshutsav Mandal celebrated its Silver Jubilee in a grand way. There was a regular flow of media people to the Ganpati pandal. A replica of the famous Shirdi Saibaba temple was chosen as the decoration around the Ganpati pandal. It was so beautifully designed that all visitors were left speechless. It looked as if the Shirdi temple with Saibaba’s idol was brought to Chandivali.

The Ganpathi idol too was enchanting. As you looked upto the idol there was a sense of bliss. The decoration was skilfully done. People from far and wide came to see the idol and the Shirdi temple.

When Mr. Ishwar Tayde was asked the thinking behind replicating the Shirdi temple he quipped “Sadguru Shri Saibaba's Samadhi Embrace at Shirdi will attain100 years on October 2018. The trust in Shirdi will have a host of cultural and social programmes to commemorate this landmark. So we decided to erect the Shirdi temple in Chandivali.” Every day the aarti starts at 3.30am just the way it happens in Shirdi. Followed by 2 other artis during the course of the day.

The whole site was completed in 45 days. Everybody in the mandal toiled day and night and the appreciation they received made them happy and proud. Now that the benchmark was set, visitors were curious to know the decoration theme for next year, Who knows, maybe in a few years, people from all over the city would drop in to seek blessings of ‘Chandivalicha Maharaja’

Eco-friendly Ganesha celebration at IIT Bombay

An innovative way of celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi was observed at IIT, Bombay where the students established clay idols of Lord Ganesha instead of the conventional PoP idols in nine hostels of the Institute.

The idols were made at a workshop conducted at the Staff Club, IIT Bombay where 100+ volunteers, including both the NSS (National Service Scheme) students and the faculty, under the supervision of Mrs. Chaitali Gupta. Over the past few years, this has created a positive change in the Institute regarding the use of Eco friendly Ganesha idols and thus a sense of doing our bit in conserving nature.

Kudos to Powai cops

On 09/07/2018 I was transferring 10 Lakhs through RTGS from my SBI Bank A/c in Mumbai to my beneficiary whose A/c No. is 20106655290 in Bank of Maharashtra Mumbai. But instead of interbank option, I selected Intrabank option (same bank). This resulted in the money getting transferred to the wrong beneficiary A/c of Mrs. Asha Sahu in SBI Bhubaneswar (Odisha), whose SBI A/c No. is 20106655290. In my bank statement only the A/c No. was reflecting i.e 20106655290, therefore I presumed that the transaction is correct.

Unfortunately my beneficiary to whom I was supposed to pay was out stationed for a month and therefore she failed to check her A/c. When she came after one month she realised that she had not received the money. She brought it to my notice on 10th Aug 2018 and I immediately took the matter to my SBI branch IIT Powai.

The Bank Manager contacted the Bhubaneswar SBI branch manager who immediately contacted Mrs. Asha Sahu. In the mean time Mrs. Asha Sahu had already withdrawn 9 Lakhs out of 10 Lakhs from her A/c.
She claimed that being a social worker she thought that somebody had donated her the amount and so she distributed the money to needy people. She refused to return the money giving all sorts of excuses.

Helpless with no option, I approached Powai Police station.  Sub Inspector Yash Shivaji Palve took charge of my case. He took all the details from SBI IIT Powai branch, then he called up SBI Bhubaneswar branch, enquired about her, got her bank statement. He then called up the local police station of Bhubaneswar and enquired about her with the Senior Police Officer. He filed a NC and was ready to apply for court order for her arrest. He consulted his seniors and even consulted a lawyer to make the case strong.

After all the preparation, PSI Palve called the lady and very tactfully explained to her the consequences. Within 2 days I got my entire money transferred into my A/c. I have no doubt that it is just because of PSI Palve and his assistant Police Nayak Babu Yedge, who worked honestly and earnestly to solve the case.

Unprecedented Success of literary forum !!!

The 4th Jheel ke Iss Paar was conducted on September 2. Needless to say it was a grand success. The audience were both delighted & mesmerised by Marathi film composure Manoj Mishra's solo performance on guitar singing Jagjeet Singh's cult ghazals as well as his own compositions. The percussion added more flavour to it played by none other than the young talented poet Mayank Saxena. Anchoring jugalbandi between  Sahil &  Mayank proved hillarious.

The discovery of unsung Hindi poet Mr. Mukesh Anand's book "Tum Kabhi Budi Math Hona" and marathi poetess Supriya Naik's "Surabhi", was a matter of pride for the hosts in reviving their books.

Mr Shaggir Khaan a top TV casting director, as President of the forum highlighted the plight of farmers and appealed strongly to everyone to empathise with them.
