India’s first free community “Birthday Havan” had celebrations for all having birthday’s in May on Sunday, 6th May. This was held simultaneously at Temple’s at Powai, Mulund and Ghatkopar. This birthday havan has now also started at Durga Parmeshwari Temple, Pant Nagar, Ghatkopar east and Sri Brahmandeshwar Mahadev Mandir at Mulund west.
The Havan starts with explaining importance of Birthday Havan. This was conceptualised and organised by a website www.birthdayhavan.com . The children could be seen trying to listen and understand the Mantras being uttered by the Priest and were very excited to put aahuti in the Havan kund. People of all ages participated with toddlers in mothers lap to teenagers, youth and senior citizens. One can see participants from 1 year to 75 year ages at this birthday celebration.
It’s being held at Sri Ayyappa Vishnu Temple, Hiranandani, Powai, Mumbai since 2016. The organisers appreciated the Trustees of this Powai Temple as they are doing Havan at cost without any profit for the Temple. This is to encourage our ancient cultural values and tradition among the new generation.
