Kumon, one of world’s largest after-school programme has been serving millions of children with an aim to help them excel in Maths and English for over 60 years now. Since the last decade, its unique methodology has also benefited thousands of students in 23 cities of India & Sri Lanka. Spreading the Kumon method further in Mumbai, Kumon Hiranandani Centre has been serving parents looking for quality education for their children. The centre organized its 5th Annual ‘Advanced Student Honour Roll’ (ASHR) ceremony on April 28, 2018, in order to felicitate its achievers. This year, nearly 100 ASHR students from the centre surpassed the Kumon International Standard. All the achievers were recognized and awarded for attaining academic excellence.

Kumon believes in “self-learning” through which children steadily progress at their own pace. While doing so, they challenge their abilities, moving up levels and hence gradually sharpen their analytical and comprehension skills, to become best performers. Every year, Kumon centres across the globe organize the ASHR ceremony to honour students studying beyond school grade level.

In the ASHR ceremony, students are recognized on the basis of the following levels:
6 months ahead of School grade level - Bronze Medal + Certificate
2 Years ahead of School grade Level - Silver Medal + Certificate
3 Years ahead of School grade Level - Gold Trophy + Certificate
5 Years ahead of School grade Level - Gold Trophy + Certificate
Programme Completer (10+2 level Maths/English) - Completer Plaque

In the ASHR ceremony conducted by Kumon Hirandani centre, 59 students received Bronze medal, 26 were awarded Silver and 17 other outshined by receiving Gold trophy. Adding on to their laurels, 12 years old Abhirup Tapadar surpassed the ultimate milestone by becoming an English Programme Completer in just 8 months of joining Kumon. At 12 years, as an advanced learner, Abhirup has completed reading poetry, plays & Shakespearean tragedies like Macbeth at Kumon, while most children at this age would be learning how to read passages & understand the basics of language & grammatical structure.

From the beginning, Mr. Toru Kumon, the Founder of the Kumon strongly believed that this unique method was applicable worldwide and he wanted to enable children from around the world to study with it. Now, after more than half a century, his philosophy continues to spread globally helping more than 4 million students develop the ability to achieve their goals and dreams.
