Podar International School Sports Day

Podar International School (CIE) organized its 4th Sports Meet on 13th January 2017. The sports meet was presided over by Mr Mayur Vyas, who is the first Indian nominated by FINA to officiate as a judge in the Olympics. The event commenced with an energetic school song presented by the talented young stars of the school.

Students of grade 1and 2 paraded to present a vibrant tableau infused with various themes such as fighting air pollution, literacy and super heroes. The drumbeat rolled, the band stroke up and a high pitched voice issued a command. After a confident march past with perfectly coordinated beats, poise and grace, the events of high drama on the sports field began to unfold. The synchronised march past of the four contingents- Liberty, Equality, Integrity and Justice was a treat to the eyes.

Balloons were released by the Principal Mrs Suchita Malakar and the chief guest to declare the annual sports meet open. Drills which are used in the aim of improving sports agility set the ball rolling with the super-energetic performances by students of all the grades. The racing events comprised of the track events such as fun races, flat races, followed by the relay races and tug of war. All the houses cheered for their favourite students creating an ambience of healthy competition. The students put on a wonderful display of high class running and competed enthusiastically with each other.  

Not to be outdone, parents and teachers also participated in their own races eagerly.  The zeal amongst the parents was palpable in the air, even as parents and teachers, along with the students received a medal for their enthusiastic participation. After giving out the awards for the exciting sprinting events, the Annual Sports Day 2017 – 2018, ended in the afternoon. Thus the day’s ultimate joy came to Equality House that seized the much coveted Best House trophy. The athletic meet was a treat to the spectators as well as the participants. The values of sportsmanship and teamwork resonated in the sports grounds with an energetic vibe and lovely weather.
