‘Sitaara’ Shraddha Pandit dazzles Nirvana
All roads led to Lake Homes banquet hall at Powai on Dec 16th, when group A performed to rocking melodies from the 90’s, the period which has produced glorious, corny albeit masaledaar songs that simply refuse to fade away!
Compere for the evening Kunal Kaushal, welcomed all in a filmy manner by way of a song & was ably accompanied by gracious co-anchor Mitali Vaishnav. The program flagged off with an invocation prayer, rendered soulfully by Mr. Lal Nachnani. Nikita Daharwal opening singer for the evening walked in to people’s hearts with her beautiful rendition of Albela Sajan
from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The young brigade was ably represented by Rohan Said, who sang Abhi Mujhme from Agneepath and received a standing ovation for the same and Shalaka Redkar who sang the melodious Yaara Sili from Rudaali to perfection. Ashok Gupta’s rendition of the Pankaj Udhas ghazal Aur Ahista Kijiye and Arti Gadgil’s Suniyoji Araj from Lekin also enthralled audience. Vinita Sawant took everyone by surprise when she incorporated her own lyrics to the song Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahin and sang flawlessly.
The star of the evening Shraddha Pandit’s entry coincided with the performance of Kehna Hi Kya song, by Madhura Vartak, who is famous as an all-rounder and a multifaceted personality, sinks her teeth in to any duty assigned to her be it as a compere, writer or singer and delivers with perfection. An engineer who has now taken a sabbatical to focus on homely affairs says, “I decided to join Nirvana thanks to the encouragement of few friends. Interesting themes for every event inspires me to choose songs to shape my versatility. Am thankful to Sanjayji for his honest feedbacks and my life has changed to a ‘soulful, melodious song with unlimited antaras”. This followed by Nirvana’s ‘harfanmaula’ Kunal Kaushal who regaled all with Jaadu Teri Nazar and was complimented by Shraddha Pandit on his voice and delivery and handpicked to accompany her as a duet partner.
Shraddha Pandit took the center stage in full style with her renditions Jigar Da Tukda, Genda Phool and her other notable hits from films. With a lineage so deep rooted in music and caliber of her class, she had the audience literally pleading with her to go on. Her parting words were appreciative of founder Sanjay Rohida’s efforts in getting so many musically inclined people under one roof and left with a promise to return soon. She was accompanied by Dr. Khalid Shaikh, Director of Sai Group of Hospitals who was very appreciative of the kind of talent on display.
The mastering performances of Revati & Abhay, Guddi Bali, Laxman Karki and all other members made it an evening to remember. Group A has made itself proud yet again. On Jan 20th, group B performed songs from the black and white era. Setting yet another milestone was the group’s performance at Yeravda jail on 23 December for inmates and officers.
