Mumbai, 27th December 2014: Over the years Powai has grown prolifically and exponentially to become one of Mumbai's most up market commercial and residential hubs. Come January 2015, and the city will witness the second edition of Powai Fest 2015, a landmark cultural event of its own! Organized by the Rotary Club of Bombay Powai in association with the Hiranandani Group, the fest is created with the endeavor to serve communities by celebrating life. Scheduled for the weekends between 10th -18th Jan 2015, the fest is planned over 100 acres of idyllic Hiranandani Gardens, to ensure participants and audience can easily access various events and revel in the spirit of the fest.
“Powai Fest 2015 will witness events ranging from cultural events, social initiatives to highlight the current affairs of Mumbai, sports activities, music contests, quizzes, cookery challenges, dogs show, fashion show, celebrity night and many more activities planned for everyone, from kids to senior citizens. Aimed at fostering the spirit of arts & culture in the hustle and bustle of the busy city life, Powai Fest provides an opportunity to celebrate the various elements of life. The festival will also witness a grand carnival on the streets of Powai on 16th Jan. Highlights of Powai fest 2015:
Street Theatre on ‘Organ Donation’, Swacch Bharat’ etc: OPEN MINDS Productions is holistic theatre training and production facility, Established in 2012 by Ms.Tejaswini Patwardhan, a film and television professional in Hiranandani. Street plays are the best reach to the common man and all social causes have found their way to street plays. Rotary club of Bombay, Powai through The Powai Fest will bring all this Mumbai Culture through a variety of Street Plays to entertain & educate through street plays what is the need of the moment. To add vibrancy to the Powai Fest, Open Minds Productions would present three street plays on currently relevant topics like Organ Donation, Breaking Gender Stereotype, and Swacch Bharat Abhiyan from 16th – 18th Jan at different locations of Hiranandani area.
Dog A'Fair: The one-day carnival that dog lovers of Powai, and around, await with bated breath... Dog A'Fair at Powai Fest 2015 is back again. So follow your pooches on the 11th of Jan at Eden Jogging Park, Hiranandani Gardens, Powai, from 3-9 pm. Dog A'Fair, will get pet parents connected with the pet trade so as to ensure only the very best goods, food & toys, for our four legged furry friends. We will have innovative activities such as the Stylish Doggy Personality Pageant and Stamina-building agility games and interesting attractions such as the D&M Pet Studio and the Artist's Corner to capture that pretty face the professional way. You can even pamper your pet with a massage or a neat groom. Every Dog registered will be getting a goody bag with a Dog Toy, Dogtreats, a magazines and a FoodBag. A Carnival- Exotic Clothes, colourful parade, fun, dance & laughter what does all this add up to A Carnival. The Powai Fest Opening ceremony takes off with a carnival. When you think of Powai and the Powai residents what are the images that it invokes? A kaleidoscope of Modern India, a vibrant India – A cosmopolitan one with global citizens. The Carnival will be a mirror image of the same. It will be colourful, with a representation from different parts of India shown in a modern light. A vibrant and a lively parade giving Mumbaikars a glimpse of lovely dances in colourful costumes moving all around Hiranandani gardens, Powai on the evening of 16th Jan '15 starting from Hiranandani Gardens and terminating at the Powai Fest Grounds where all the action will be taking place.
Live Art by Mouth & Foot Painting Artist from Powai: A cause closer to the hearts of Powaiites is that there are ‘NO PUBLIC TOILETS’ in the area of Hiranandani – Powai. Going in sync with the latest noise on ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan’ by Government Of India, The Powai Fest 2015 will have a Live Painting session of 2 days by Powai-based Foot artist Bandenawaz. The artist will be painting a 5ft canvas live on the streets of Hiranandani on the 5th & 6th of Jan 2015 projecting the need of toilet facility in the area for common man. The Art Work will be later put-on display at the Festival Grounds on 17th – 18th of Jan.
Bonding Workshops: Bonding games not only strengthen the bonds between you and your dear ones, but they are super fun! These activities offer an opportunity to get to know your teammates better, as well as develop trust to make for a stronger team overall. Powai Fest 2015 will be hosting ‘Bonding Workshops’ on Urban Gardening, Aero modeling, Chess Workshop, Aquatic Fun Games, Grooming, Self Defence, Photography and mmmore!!
Rock Concerts: The highlight of the festival continues to be the musical rock concerts in open-air festival grounds. The inaugural day on 16th will open with an Invocation Song & Dance Performance and a Drum Circle Group performance followed by IITians performing on rock concerts.
Promising to be even more exciting in this edition, a wide palette of talent events, sports events, rock concert, fashion shows, fancy dress, photography events, cookery events, the community brilliance contest and much more have been scheduled with a host of celebrities involved as well at the 5 day grand affair from 10th, 11th, 16th, 17th and 18th Jan 2015.
