Gopal Sharma

14th November rang in with a difference at the Gopal Sharma international and Memorial School, Powai. The children were regaled with performances that were both refreshing and rejuvenating – all put up by the teachers.

The pre - primary section teachers dressed up like clowns with balloons and balls and danced with gay abandon on several Bollywood kiddy numbers.

The SSC teachers put up a electrifying performance on a medley of Shah Rukh Khan songs. The principal Mrs. Ghadiali and Vice Principal Mrs. Sudha Sharan also joined them in the finale. The ICSE section teachers grooved to the latest hit’ INDIA WALEY ‘and the audience was in raptures. They also sang some old melodies and all the children joined in enthusiastically. A skit aptly named ’ A regular day in std 10’  was played to perfection by the ICSE senior teachers - It was a runaway hit , as the teachers brought a classroom scene alive on stage. Cleverly scripted with the usual antics and pranks that students indulge in; the audience laughed at a reflection of their own selves. Moreover, seeing teachers dressed in school uniform brought many a cheer to everybody present.

The importance and significance of Children’s Day was brought out in speeches given by students and the Principal. The Swachch Bharat Abhiyan campaign was also launched and the students and staff took up cleaning the road outside the school as well as all the classrooms with gusto. Managing Trustee Mrs. Manju Sharma and Coprorator [Powai] Mr.Sharad Pawar were present to encourage and motivate the school community. The Principal Mrs. Ghadiali underlined the importance of Cleanliness being next to Godliness.

All in all, it sure was a wonderful day spent and the children went home with a delicious snack box and happy memories.

Podar International School - CBSE

Children’s Day at PIS (CBSE),Powai was unique in its own way. It was special because the school children shared their joys and celebrations with the 62 children of class I to VIII invited from an NGO-‘ASHA’ which works for the betterment of the underprivileged children.

Amidst all the fun and frolic, there was cake-cutting done in all the classes. Gifts were distributed to the NGO children by our Principal, Ms.Rachna Lakshminarayanan, as well as the students of each class. The gifts given by each class were typically the donations (in cash and kind) made by the school children during the ‘Joy of Giving’ week celebrated soon after Diwali vacations. Students were allowed to wear colourful dress and decorate their classrooms. They were a special screening of the inspiring movie, ‘Mary Kom’ in the school. Each classroom turned into a mini-theatre, facilitated by the techno-aided infrastructure. Students had brought feast-like food in their tiffins and shared it graciously with the ASHA children. The whole school wore a festive look.

The one winning moment of the day was a smile on each of the faces of the underprivileged children when they were going back, loaded with great memories and also with a bus, full of gifts.

The teachers and the Principal were filled with a sense of satisfaction for being able to make a positive difference in the otherwise not so privileged lives of the ASHA children. We are hopeful that the memories of this day will remain fresh and etched in the minds of all our children for a long time to come.

A Message By The Principal

“Children are the world’s most valuable resources and the best hope for the future. May the love and laughter always stay on every child’s face.”
