CCWA ( Chandivali Citizen Welfare Association Regd.) right from its inception has been working on cleanliness of the locality. Non Collection of garbage on daily basis by BMC from Societies, causing serious health concern has been on the agenda of the association. The association has been working in close co-ordination with MCGM - Solid Waste Mangement Department to sort out this issue. SWM Department has also been cooperating with them.

Many areas like Pawar Public School path earlier had huge piles of garbage. Due to constant interaction this garbage is now removed and subsequently garbage accumulated is removed regularly.
Mandeep Singh Makkar founder member of CCWA informed My Powai about the Swatch Chandivali Drive initiative by CCWA,

CCWA plans to organize a Swachh Chandivali Drive along with Solid Waste Mangement Department on 22nd December 2019 (Sunday), 10 am onwards at Nahar Amrit Shakti Road.

CCWA also takes up illegal parking in the area which unnecessarily blocks traffic. The co-operation from Traffic Department at Saki Naka is being taken in this regard.

Many illegal hoardings are put up in the area many times thus blocking the display of signal. CCWA has been successful in getting such hoardings removed.

The pedestrians in Chandivali have been facing problem of encroachment of footpaths. As such any footpath should be at least 1.8 m wide. This can facilitate easy movement of pedestrians from both sides. This is for roads up to 60 feet width. If road width is 90 feet then foot path should be at least 3 m wide. If there is a Bus Stop on foot path then there should be back side opening of at least 1.5 mts so that wheel chair can pass through.

CCWA has been taking this up with the authorities for clearance of encroachments on foot path. As such in MCGM, Building department and Licensing Department are responsible for ensuring sufficient wide foot path for pedestrians and take action against illegal encroachments by shopkeepers on Nahar Amrit Shakti road. Based on follow up only Symbolic action was taken once but again situation has come back as before.

The Shopkeepers also play great role in keeping their surroundings clean. Many establishments selling eatables do not provide dustbin to patrons and area is littered. By creating awareness cleanliness has to be ensured.

We request all residents to come forward and participate in "Swachh Chandivali Abhiyan" says Mandeep Singh Makkar founder member of CCWA.
